    The Role of Advisors

    The role of Advisor for Open Knowledge Australia is for any member who has a particular expertise in Open Knowledge (#OpenHardware #OpenGovernment #OpenDataJournalism, etc).  On average, an Advisor will spend a 2-6 hours per month volunteering their time.  Likely activities of Advisors include:

    • Advice and guidance to anyone who wants to get involved in Open Knowledge Australia.
    • Provide advice and expertise to other members to encourage action (do-ocracy).
    • Notify the Board of any press releases, media statements and/or quotes for journalists which help promote Open Knowledge as a cause.
    • Monitoring of your open expertise through global channels, such as listservs, twitter and other media channels.
    • Advisors may also be asked to speak at Open Knowledge conferences and other events about their open expertise.
